Several education boards have announced a significant change of the curriculum of the Class 11 of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) program during the academic sessions of 2025 to 2026.
The main objectives of such revisions are to fulfil three main objectives among the students joining Class 11:
- Revising the teaching material to meet the contemporary academic and professional requirements.
- Introduction of rationalised or Smart Syllabus to reduce overload on students.
- The alignment of the syllabus with the current learning outcomes is to be guaranteed, together with the alignment in certain areas with the new National Curriculum (NCP) models.
11th Class Smart Syllabus 2025 – 2026
One of these topics in numerous announcements, especially by the Punjab government, is the introduction of a “Smart Syllabus” or a Reduced 11th Class Smart Syllabus 2025. This reasoning revolves around the critical Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) to enable the students to emphasis knowledge conceptually instead of rote memorisation of all the textbook content.
Some of the major subjects that are affected by the revised syllabus include:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Mathematics
- Computer Science
- English
- Urdu
- Islamiat
- Civics
- Economics
- Psychology
The relevant bodies like the PCTB have been mandated to print and distribute new textbooks that entirely capture the curriculum changes so that the students as well as the teachers could be well prepared to the new content before the academic year commences.
