Japan has been providing a scholarship program worth $263 million to the Pakistani students, who have an opportunity to study in the best universities in Japan. This initiative named the Human Resource Development Scholarship ( JDS ) was formally launched on 15th July, 2025. It is intended toward Pakistani government employees and youthful experts and is subsidised by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Scholarship Details
- Everything is financed by the JDS program which launched in 2018:
- Courses are covered in all aspects in the Masters degree in the leading universities, including University of Tokyo and Kyoto University.
- You will be provided with approximately PKR 270,000 (JPY 144,000) per month spending money.
- You will go and be in charge of your round-trip tickets between Japan and Pakistan.
- You will be assisted in university residence or rent allowance.
- You are given funds to supply materials and make your school projects.
In 2025, the program will be dedicated to the topics significant to the development of Pakistan, such as governance, infrastructure construction, and sustainable development. Over 100 Pakistani government employees to-date have benefited since it began and many are currently employed to work on some of the important policies in Pakistan.
Eligibility and Qualification:
The following criteria are mentioned below.
- Citizenship: You should be a Pakistani citizen, and more so a federal government worker.
- Age: You must be below the age of 40 years.
- Education: You should possess a university degree (Bachelor level) obtained in an HEC acknowledged university and with preferably a GPA of 2.5.
- Experience: You must also be experienced in the field of public work and have more than 2 years of experience.
- Language: You must be good at English. It is not essential to know some Japanese, although knowing some makes it more interesting as a lot are taught in English.
You would be able to apply using the Japanese Embassy in Islamabad or Consulate General in Karachi. The deadline to apply to the 2025 program is on August 31, 2025.
